Nicholas Ghionni is an attending Critical Care physician specializing in the care of critically ill patients. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. He went on to complete his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, also serving as Chief Fellow during his final year.
His clinical and educational interests include mechanical ventilation, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and critical care education. Passionate about translating complex physiology into practical bedside understanding, Dr. Ghionni has expanded his impact beyond the ICU through medical education initiatives.
He is the creator of the popular Instagram platform @pulmtoilet, where he teaches the fundamentals of mechanical ventilation in an engaging, approachable format widely recognized for its clarity and practicality.
Known for his ability to make complex concepts accessible without sacrificing depth, he has further extended this mission through the launch of a companion podcast focused on critical care and ventilator education.
